You may be lucky to see troops of wild monkeys and dazzling colourful birds including Sea Eagles, Hornbills and Kingfishers.įloating Seafood Restaurants Between Coconut Island and Phuket are the incredible floating seafood restaurants of Laem Hin. ![]() Mangrove Forest Then onwards we go, for a gentle cruise, through the dense Mangrove Forest and out into the shallow waters of Maphrao Bay. If you desire we can visit a traditional village and experience the hospitality that is second nature to these wonderful folk. ![]() Traditional Thai Fishing Villages While we Cruise quietly through traditional Thai fishing villages, you will have the chance to observe the fishermen at work as they use centuries old techniques and equipment to land their catch. Thai Chin Canal Next we will cruise down the ‘Forgotten Waterway of The Thai Chin Canal’, which separates the Island of Phuket and Kho Sirae, through the old Asian fishing port which is the largest in Phuket and then under the bridge and into the wilder side of the canal. There are magnificent panoramic views of Phuket to mesmerize and a great place for photography. It will be a short walk but with a gradually steep leafy path leading the way. One of the oldest light houses There is one of the oldest light houses in Thailand to be seen high up, you can walk up to it and explore the ancient buildings that surround the light house. Perhaps you will see Hornbill birds and many other species that can be heard, but you will really need to look hard into the mature, flourishing jungle to see them. ![]() For the fit, some of the paths can be quite steep, but if you prefer a more leisurely stroll you can always take a walk along the flats. Thaphao Island Your first stop, after leaving Ao Chalong is Thaphao Island, which is a nature lover’s paradise, with beautiful forest walks where very old trees can be seen.
